Under UK law, every person has the right to a fair trial and to appoint or receive legal assistance from whoever they choose. Nothing in the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012, the Legal Services Act 2007, or the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 gives the government any power to restrict who can fund your defence — unless that money comes from criminal activity. @elonmusk hasn’t broken a single law.
