RT @NocnaZ (Mesuret): 🇩🇰 Denmark’s Procurement Revolution: Playing on Two Fronts, Europe’s Opportunity. Denmark is reshaping defense procurement. As reported by @CarnegieEndow, Copenhagen has selected the Franco-Italian SAMP/T NG (Thales/MBDA) over the US Patriot - this is the first export contract, signed on April 21, 2026, with deliveries starting in 2028. This is a response to U.S. uncertainty and delays in American deliveries. Denmark participates in the EU’s SAFE programme, invests in European sovereignty, but does not abandon NATO - playing on two fronts. Ongoing Projects: SAMP/T NG: Denmark will acquire the Franco-Italian air defense system (MBDA/Thales) instead of Patriot. Benefits: full integration with European networks (ESSI), lower operating costs, and industrial cooperation with France and Italy. CAVS: Denmark has joined the Patria 6x6 armored vehicle programme (manufacturer: Finland), ordering 130 units (first delivery: December 2025). Other participants include Sweden, Germany, and Latvia. ESSI: Denmark is investing in IRIS-T SLM (manufacturer: Diehl Defence, Germany) - a contract for additional fire units was signed on December 4, 2025. It is also leasing NASAMS from Norway (Kongsberg) and purchasing VL-MICA from France (MBDA). The entire ground-based air defense programme is budgeted at DKK 58 billion (~€7.8 billion). Naval Vessels: Denmark plans to replace its three Iver Huitfeldt-class frigates with new multi-role vessels. Naval Group (France) is one of the candidates, offering its FDI frigate. The FDI is a multi-mission warship designed for high operational availability and equipped with advanced digital systems to counter submarine, aerial, and surface threats. In the European market, Naval Group’s FDI traditionally competes with BAE Systems’ (UK) Type 26 frigate, Navantia’s (Spain) F-110, and Fincantieri’s (Italy) offerings. Denmark demonstrates that Europe can be self-sufficient, with beneficiaries including manufacturers from France, Italy, Finland, Germany, Norway, the UK, and Spain. European companies are gaining new markets, while Europe gets a chance to reduce its dependence on the U.S. The greatest challenge remains time - Europe must quickly fill its gaps without sacrificing long-term independence. #Denmark #Greenland #Forsvaret #NATO #EU #Defence #Military #DanishStrategy #SAMPT #EuropeanDefense #EUSovereignty #Procurement #CAVS #ESSI #FranceDenmark #DefenceIndustry #FDI #Arctic #BalticSecurity #NordicDefence @forsvaretdk @Forsvarsmin @AndersFoghR @jensstoltenberg @Statsmin @diisdk @RasmusGB @steenulnits @JeppeBruus @larsloekke @troelslundp @JeppeKofod @RFI @malte_humpert @MadsKorsager @MikkelVedby @PeurAvion @L_ThinkTank @top_force @kurrild @HthHans @OJoelsen @CarnegieEndow @SophiaBesch @f_kopczewski @FSN_SE @politiken @btdk @defindustryeu @ArmyRecognition @navalgroup @MBDAGroup @ThalesGroup https://t.co/WuI0Sd25rt Manufacturers' photos (Type 26, F-110, FDI)

RT @NocnaZ (Mesuret): 🇩🇰 Denmark's Paradigm Shift: From NATO-Centrism to Multi-Vector Alliances. Traditionally, Denmark has been a model ally of the US within NATO, but Russia's invasion of Ukraine (2022) followed by growing uncertainty about the nature of US engagement and indeed threats of invasion of Greenland (2026), have reshaped Danish priorities. Denmark is moving away from exclusive dependence on NATO. In 2022, it lifted its 27-year opt-out from EU defense policy, joining PESCO (Permanent Structured Cooperation - enabling joint defense investments) and EDA (European Defence Agency - coordinating defense capabilities among EU member states). Denmark's new strategy is multi-vector: NATO remains just one pillar, the EU represents investment in European strategic autonomy, while bilateral partnerships include France (agreement for 250-1000 Mistral 3 air defense missiles strengthening air defense), Germany (industrial and technological cooperation on naval and land systems), Poland (joint exercises and regional security initiatives, particularly in the Baltic), Nordic countries (Arctic defense and maritime route protection cooperation), and Baltic states (joint air and maritime patrols and intelligence sharing). Denmark is building a balanced alliance system that combines traditional NATO guarantees with growing European strategic autonomy and bilateral partnerships based on concrete capabilities. In the coming years, we can expect deeper cooperation with France and Germany in the defense industry, and with Poland and the Baltic states in regional security and hybrid threat response. @HighNorthNews @drnyheder @jyllandsposten @politiken @btdk @AtlanticCouncil @diisdk @RUSI_org @IISS_org @RasmusGB @steenulnits @JeppeBruus @ForsvaretDK @larsloekke @troelslundp @JeppeKofod @France24 @RFI @Statsmin @AndersFoghR @BronwenMaddox @malte_humpert @MadsKorsager @OJoelsen @kurrild @HthHans @riskstaff @FSN_SE @AajaCL @londonvinjamuri @f_kopczewski @MikkelVedby @defindustryeu @ArmyRecognition @navalgroup @MBDAGroup #Arctic #Greenland #Denmark #Forsvaret #NATO #EU #Defence #Military #Alliances #Geopolitics #ArcticSecurity #BalticSecurity #NordicDefence #HybridThreats #MilitaryModernization #ArmsIndustry #SecurityPolicy https://t.co/dQvMIRSG3L
