The Georgian Dream regime is planning to criminally prosecute and potentially imprison everyone who does not recognize its legitimacy, including people involved in protests. This proposal is set to be discussed at the second reading, together with the so-called "foreign grants law". More detailed: 🔴 Georgian Dream regime MPs Levan Machavariani and Archil Gorduladze have proposed punishing people, including with criminal charges, who refuse to recognize the legitimacy of constitutional institutions, do not follow Georgian law, claim that Georgia does not have a government elected by its citizens, or say the government is controlled by a foreign country. The proposal would also target those who encourage others to think or act the same way. 🔴 They presented this idea during a plenary session of Ivanishvili's parliament while the Russian-style "foreign grants law" was being discussed at its first reading. 🔴 To justify the proposal, the MPs pointed to Germany, where in May 2025 authorities banned the extremist group Königreich Deutschland("Kingdom of Germany") and arrested its founder, Peter Fitzek, who called himself the group's "king".
